Tuesday, Day 6, Sturgis 2022

Tuesday ended up being about another 200 mile day. Carl once again led the way which means not too many pictures.

We started out from the campground and headed to Spearfish where we turned to go down Spearfish Canyon through Savoy to Cheyenne Crossing. We turned left and headed up through Lead to the edge of Deadwood where we picked up US hwy 385 south. Following 385 south we stopped at the Pactola Reservoir for some water and a group photo. I stop there every year for a picture standing in the same place.

We stopped short of Hill City for a beer then doubled back and got on US hwy 16 to 16A into Keystone.

In Keystone we got on road 323 to Hill City. This road follows the tracks of the 1880 train as it winds its way from Hill City to Keystone. You end up crossing the tracks about 10 times. A great riding road. We did see the train. It was just pulling into Keystone.

In Hill City we spent some time shopping and walking around. Upon leaving Hill City we headed into Rapid City on US hwy 16 to meet up with our friend Terresah for dinner and then it was back to camp for the evening.

Pactola Reservoir.

Yours truely.

The group, Lisa, Carl, me (John) and Lyle.
