Fall around Hayward and Placid Lake Wisconsin

We've had a pretty good fall as far as the colors go. Here are a bunch of pictures from the area.

Placid Lake. Previous 3 and next two pics.

Our house on Placid Lake, Oct 4th.

Out golfing with Art and Mary at Hidden Greens in Solon Springs WI on Oct 5th in 68 degree weather.

Playing a round at Lakeview golf and Pizza on the 6th of Oct.

These two are almost the same. I like the second one better which shows a few more of the trees on the left side of the road.

Full moon on the 10th of Oct. It's called the Hunter moon.

These next 9 pictures were all taken near our house on Tiger Cat Road and West Tiger Cat Dam Road on Oct 13th.

The colors were a little muted because it was cloudy, but I still think they turned out nice.
And then we woke up to this on the 14th.

so now we're in the middle of the month  and after 3 days of cold and flurries it is supposed to be 65 by the 21st. I hope so. I want to get in one more round of golf.

Black Hills mini vacation

On September 25th Wendie and I headed out to the Black Hills of South Dakota. We took the same route out there that I take when I go to Sturgis. US HWY 212 across South Dakota is a pleasure to drive, good road and very little traffic.

Our first stop was for lunch in St. Cloud MN also got gas there for $3.42 a gal, what a bargain.

We stopped in Montevideo MN and took a few pictures. We spent Sunday night in Faulkton SD.

Old steam engine tender welcomes you to Montevideo, MN

The old train depot.
On the edge of town is Camp Release.

There was an indian uprising in 1862.
Some of the history, hope you can enlarge it so you can read it.

The Indian leaders.

Faulkton, SD

The Quilters Corner in Faulkton.

In Ridgeview SD. Don't know the purpose of this along the road, unless maybe a snow fence of some sort.

Many fields of sunflowers in this part of the state. Judging from the heads these are for oil and not for eating.

As we got closer to the hills we started to see a few more trees.

This is where we stayed in Deadwood. A very nice Super 8. They even had a small casino where we both won a little money,
Pactola Reservoir along HWY 385

The trees were starting to change to their fall colors.
On Tuesday we drove the Needles Highway on our way to Hot springs to visit friends.

Could see a long ways from here.

Bison in Custer State Park
Along the road up to Roughlock Falls in Spearfish Canyon.

Love this shot of Spearfish Creek.

Can you spot the trout in this and the next picture?

Roughlock falls.

How do those trees grow out of what looks like is solid rock.

Yup that's us doing the tourist thing. You can see Roughlock falls in the upper right.

One of my favorite pictures.

Spearfish Canyon road outside of Savoy.
Wendie hit $157.56 on a 50 cent bet.

I hit $100.00 dollars on a 40 cent bet. I came out a little ahead gambling and Wendie came close to even. We tryed our luck downtown Deadwood and didn't do well.
Bear Butte outside Sturgis SD.

A little spot of shade out on the prairie east of Sturgis.
All in all it was nice to take a break and see the hills as the trees were starting to change. We got home friday late afternoon.
