Today Jean, Gib and myself went for a ride up to Lakewoods resort for lunch. We started at Jean and Gib's on the Tiger Cat Flowage and made a clockwise route up to Lakewood's and back. We left just after 9:30am and were at the resort a few minutes before noon. Mileage for the day was 54.5 miles.
Today's route. Lakewood's resort is the star 53, top right on Namakagon lake.
Headed down trail 77.
The trails still seem in good shape and we had about 1 inch new snow.
Taking a break at intersection #36. We turned left off 8 and headed up trail 13.
Running up trail 13.
A B&B along the trail, also the American Birkebeiner route is right next to the trail here.
Birkebeiner starting area and the old Telemark ski resort.
One of the higher points on todays ride.
They have a nice bridge to cross this stream.
Getting close to the lunch stop now.
We had one short delay just before the resort. One of the groomers had to fill in a soft spot with snow and pack it in a marshy area. Also is a picture of the drag groomer that it pulls to groom the trails. Big machinery.
Lakewoods resort. A pretty good lunch crowd on hand. They haven't staked the lake yet.
Only a few pics from the ride home. This is along trail 8.
Getting close to home again. Shortly after leaving Lakewood's resort we ran into some light freezing rain. None of us have heated faceshields so we had to stop several times to clean the ice off so we could see where we were going. It kind of sucked but it was still a great day out riding. Once again we saw very little traffic on the trails. We got passed by a few machines and met about 10 coming at us.
Hope to go for a ride again on thursday.
Sunday's sunset and monday's lunch guests.
