I met Jean and Gib at the normal spot near intersection 45 on the Tiger Cat Flowage. It was close to 10am when we got headed out. Today our first stop was at our friend JoAnn's house for a little lunch and some good conversation.
After lunch we decided to take a longer way home and make a stop at Lost Land Lake Lodge, star 37 on the upper right side of map. While enjoying an adult beverage we were told about the 6 location Search for Bigfoot T-Shirt promotion. Jean and Gib did it last year. We got our ticket stamped, 1 down 5 to go. The trails for the most part were freshly groomed and in super shape, only a couple short sections that were bumpy and slow. Now for some pictures from today.
Today's route covered 42 miles. JoAnn lives near star 35 on right side of the map.
A few miles into our ride we came up on an American Bald Eagle feasting on a dead deer. It took off as we approached but landed in a tree nearby. The discolored spot to the right of Gib is the deer carcass.
A couple more miles up the trail we came upon 3 deer that seemed pretty indifferent to us being there. I can't believe they stood there long enough for me to get my phone out and get a picture of them. Then they didn't move that far off the trail because of the deep snow.
Along trail 5 headed to JoAnn's.
I hadn't had Windmill cookies in ages, gotta get some. Back on the trail towards Lost Land Lake Lodge. Freshly groomed trails.
Lost Land Lake Lodge, star 37 on map. Our search for Bigfoot Card.
You have to be alert to the occasional soft spot in the marshy areas. The lakes were well staked and fairly smooth.
When we came back by the deer carcass now there were two Eagles sitting in a tree right next to the trail.
The Eagle on the left is the juvenile and sitting right over the trail. It's a nice sight to see. I only wish I had my 35mm DSL with me.
It was another great ride and we hope to be out again on Wednesday.
