On tuesday the 20th Flat Ryan and I left Tom's place in Hope AZ for a side trip up to Laughlin NV. Here are a couple pics of Tom's winter home and the RV park.
The entrance and Tom's motorhome, car and Harley Softail. That's my truck on the left.
A few views of the RV park. In the last picture the road heads out into the desert. Alot of the people here have ATV's or UTV's, Polaris RZR's seem really popular. This is just one of many starting points to go explore. Just remember to close the gate.
We took an easy route up to Laughlin. From Tom's we headed up AZ hwy 72 until we got to AZ hwy95 and followed that all the way up into Bullhead city AZ where we crossed the Colorado river into Laughlin. On the way up we stopped at the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge.
Flat Ryan and I are enjoying our time out west. The weather is good. A little cool, that's ok though. We are having a big time and learning a few things. Here are a few more pics of the lake behind the Parker Dam.
Plenty of things to do on, in or near the water here. Pay attention there are things that bite out there.
Upon arriving at our final destination which took just over 4 hours with stops and ended up being 155 miles, we checked into the Colorado Belle for 2 nights.
Outside view.
Nice enough room for the price, about 33 a night with the tax. Great shower, good bed. No fridge though.
On wednesday we jumped in the truck and drove down to Oatman, AZ. We took the paved road down there and the gravel road back. It was a mining town that is now a tourist town complete with its own Burro population, left over from the mining days. You can buy a bag of feed for a dollar. I didn't.
Flat Ryan and I are history buffs. We like reading about stuff like this.
Now check this out.
I'm speechless. Holy cow.
The friendly burro's, downtown and of course the post office.
When we left Oatman, we headed north out of town on the pavement and about a mile or so out of town we turned left onto the gravel and headed back to Bullhead City. It was about 12 miles back I think. We took our time, just idled along at about 5-10mph and took in the view. We only had 2 vehicles pass us, I pulled over for them, and only met 5 coming at us, it was very nice.
Tomorrow we head back to tom's.
Oatman is always so neat :)
