Friday August 11 turned out to be a nice day all around. I got up and had the breakfast bowl at the campground. For 5 dollars you get a bowl with eggs, hash browns, sausage and cheese. Add a little hot sauce and you have a great meal. After breakfast I did some cleaning of the camping cabin looked over some maps and waited for my friend Erik to show up. He got there about noon. We sat around and talked for an hour or so about our up coming week of riding. We then got on our bikes for an afternoon riding. We rode up Spearfish Canyon and at Cheyenne Crossing we turned right and took US hwy 85 about 10 miles to O'Neil pass. It's a nice curvy road. Set the cruise at 50 and make all the corners, even the one's posted at 35 mph. Stopped at the top took a couple pictures and headed back down. We stayed on hwy 85 until we got to forest road 17. Another nice paved road that takes you to the one horse town of Rochford and the Moonshine Gulch Saloon. We stayed long enough to have a Henrys Root beer and then headed back to camp. Our ride ended up being 125 miles. A very nice afternoon of riding.
Sat Erik and I packed up our bikes and hit the road about 8am. First we had to get a bite to eat at Hardees and fill the bikes with gas. Our destination was White Sulphur Springs Montana. A mere 453 miles away. It started out a little cool but in a couple hours it warmed up nicely. Had a bit of a headwind for about 100 miles between Forsyth and Roundup MT. We stopped for lunch about 2:30 at the Busy Bee Cafe in Roundup MT. Had a great Chicken sandwith. We arrived at our destination around 5:45 pm. We will be headed south from here tomorrow.
The Checkerboard Cattle Co. Looks like a nice spread.
