Mondays ride

Monday the 22nd of February was a great day to go for a ride with my friends Art, Jean and Gib. It was about 35 degrees when we left at noon and was mostly clear. Our ride covered 43 miles in a counterclockwise direction. We had gotten about an inch of snow the day before and the groomers had been out Sunday night and early Monday morning. We could tell this because on some of the trails we took only one or two sleds had been on the trails. The riding was mostly nice and smooth. Todays ride took us to the edge of Hayward where Hwy 77 and US 63 intersect.

Our route for the day. Hayward is on the extreme lower left.
Trail 15 across from Hayward Powersports on Hwy 77.
Crossing the American Birkebeiner trail. A big deal cross country ski race. Google it for more info.

A really nice day for a ride.

Trail 63 which follows the old railroad roadbed for the most part. We took this all the way down to Hayward before heading East on trail 31.

A short break at intersection 60. We pick up trail 30 at this point.

Along trail 30 we encountered a couple dogs out for a walk. This trail along with most of the trails today was in superb shape.

Along trail 29. More nice trail conditions. The sun was out for alot of our ride today.

Heading out onto Round Lake for the last leg of our Journey. It was a fast run across the lake for me. Just get your butt up off the seat alittle and let your legs act as shock absorbers. Ran the entire lake at 70-85 mph. The last pic is of the rest of the group. I waited for them at the North end of the lake. From there it was a short ride back to Jean and Gibs for a drink and some chit chat before riding the last 3 miles home.
We are supposed to get some more snow late today (Tuesday). 1 to 4 inches. They're not sure. We plan to ride again tomorrow (Wednesday).
Until then embrace today and enjoy all that it offers.
