Fridays ride

Friday turned out to be another great day for a ride. My friend Art and I left my place at about 11:30am. We ran over and picked up Jean and Gib at their place on Upper Twin Lake which is about 3 miles from my house. Leaving there we proceeded North on trail 18 to intersection 32 and turned left to make a counterclockwise circle of 59 miles. The weather was cloudy with some sun poking through the big cumulus clouds. The temperature was a nice 10-15 degrees.

Todays route. The trails were in fairly good shape for the most part though there were some areas where you had some rocks up to golf ball size starting to pop through the base layer.

A head shot of yours truely, and at Jean and Gibs. That is Jean on the left and Art on the right dicussing our ride for the day.
This is a highway underpass near Hayward Powersports. It used to be for cows to pass safely from one pasture to another but now is used by snowmobiles. It's barely wide enough at 52-54 inches. Art misjudged it the other day and got a ski hung up on the left side entrance embankment.

Here we are at the North end of Round lake. We made good time here. The lake was not to wavy yet. As the ice freezes down and gets thicker it expands and gets a little like a gentle roller coaster.

After crossing Round and Little Round lakes it's into the woods until we cross Osprey Lake.

Taking a quick break before making our run across the Chippewa Flowage and exiting the flowage. That's ]ean giving a wave and a thumbs up.

Somewhere along trail 3

At intersection 101 heading North on trail 21.
Along trail 21.

At intersection 70 and then more running through the woods.
There were a fair number of sleds at Dow's Corner, circle 38 on the map.
From Dow's corner we're not to far from home. Another fun ride with great friends. There were a fair amount of sleds out on the trails today. We probably saw 25 or so . We hope to go out again Monday. We leave the weekends open to all the out of towners to run the trail system.
