Sturgis day 2 and 3

Day 2, friday started with rain in the forcast. We left Faulkton under clouds. We topped off our tanks in Eagle Butte SD and put on our rain gear. Not to much later we got into a little lite rain and then the fun started. We hit a road construction area with no pavement just well packed gravel with puddles and some washboard sections and a little heavier rain. But what really sucked were the cars going the other way and splashing water and mud at us. The rain quit for a while until we got to Belle Fourche then it started to drizzle again. We got to the campground before it started to rain hard. After hanging around for a couple hours it stopped raining long enough to run into town for dinner. Got back to camp and it started to rain again.

Woke up saturday to more rain and it looked like it was going to be an all day affair. After an hour or so we decided to take the car for a scenic drive. We left the campground and headed down to Spearfish to Spearfish Canyon road. At Cheyenne Crossing we turned left towards Lead and Deadwood. We jumped on US 385 South and took that all the way to Hill City where we had lunch. When we left Hill City we took County 323 over to keystone. It is a nice winding road that crosses the 1880 train tracks several times. We saw the train headed back to Hill City a few miles before we got to Keystone. It runs between Hill City and Keystone a couple times a day. Leavng Keystone we went to Mount Rushmore to see the boys and yes it was still misting. Then it was back to camp the quick way. Got back to camp and it is still misty with drizzle at times. Nick. Kari and Chris decided to head into Sturgis anyway. I declined. As of now just after 8pm it appears to have finally stopped. Hoping for good weather tomorrow. I have a few pics to post put not much.

Taking a break on friday at the Ben Ash monument about 80 miles from camp.
